Development of free press in the country is the
prime concern of Nepal Press Institute. Its
establishment 26 years back was guided by the
objective of providing professional services to the
mediaindustry in Nepal. The Institute champions
the cause of independent and pluralistic press.
Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal at a book launching programme organized by NPI on April 16, 2009 in Kathmandu. Now Prime Minister, Mr. Nepal was the Chairman of the Constitutional Committee. Entitled Sambidhan ra Media [Constitution and Media], the book contains articles by five prominent personalities, has been published by NPI with support from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Working journalists now can get Advance news
reporting courses with Distance Learning
modules on radio and print media. The
participants can execute their daily work
simultaneously with advanced courses. The
“In-depth News Reporting for Print Media”
course is six month and the “Advanced Skills on
Radio News and Interview” is three month.
The training is blended with distance learning
modules and 2-5 days long face-to-face
modules..
The experienced e-trainers’ will provide
creative guidelines from angling to in-depth
snews reporting. They will also provide detail
feedback on participants' practical works.
In order to promote indigenous and community
media in the districts by facilitating access to
modern technologies and skills, NPI founded
two Regional Media Resource Centers in
Biratnagar and Nepalgunj (1995) and one in
Butwal (2003).
