Media dialogues

NPI has been lobbying in favor of a free, independent media since its establishment. This year, the Institute, through its regional centers, initiated voice for press freedom with an innovative concept of media dialogue. In a state of confusion and turmoil resulting due to the arbitrary rules imposed by the officials after February 1, RMRCs initiated media dialogues at regional levels.

These forums were successful in bringing rural journalists together and developing a sense of unity among them. With this initiation, they were encouraged to start dialogues and campaigning for media freedom on their own. Now several organizations of journalists, with FNJ branches in the forefront, are continuing the fight for an independent media.

Seminars and colloquiums

NPI occasionally conducts seminars on issues of social importance ranging from good governance to human rights to development, as and where necessary. The thrust of seminars conducted by NPI is to bring various professionals together with journalists and provide them a forum for interaction.
